Stock option

An arrangement that grants employees the right to purchase company stock at a predetermined price, typically lower than the market price, as part of their compensation.

Example
A tech company offers its employees stock options as an incentive to stay with the company. Employees can buy company stock at the current market price or a reduced predetermined price set when the options were granted.
