Pregnancy Discrimination Act

The Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) is a federal law in the United States that prohibits discrimination against employees based on pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. The PDA is an amendment to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and aims to protect pregnant employees from unfair treatment and ensure equal employment opportunities.

Example
A violation of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act would be an employer refusing to hire a qualified candidate because she is pregnant or terminating an employee's position after learning about her pregnancy. Another example would be denying a pregnant employee the same training opportunities or promotions available to other employees.
