Performance feedback

Performance feedback refers to the process of providing employees with constructive information about their job performance to help them understand their strengths and weaknesses, improve their skills, and align their performance with organizational goals.

Example
During an annual performance review, a manager meets with an employee to discuss their accomplishments, and areas needing improvement, and set goals for the upcoming year. The manager provides specific examples of the employee's achievements and offers guidance on how to enhance their performance in areas that require development.
