Disability Leave

Disability Leave refers to a specific type of employee leave granted by an employer to accommodate an employee's temporary or long-term disability. It allows employees to take time off work to address their health issues, recover from an illness or injury, or seek medical treatment while protecting their jobs and benefits.

Example
An employee who recently underwent surgery and needs several weeks to recuperate requests disability leave from their employer. During this time, the employee is not expected to perform their regular job duties but remains eligible for certain benefits, such as continued healthcare coverage, and retains their job position for when they are medically cleared to return to work.
