Bereavement

Bereavement refers to the period of mourning and grief following the death of a loved one. It is a time of extreme sadness, emotional distress, and adjustment to loss.

Example
When an employee experiences the loss of a family member, they may be granted leave by their employer. This leave allows the individual to attend the funeral, make the necessary arrangements, and take time for condolences and emotional recovery. The company recognizes the support needs of workers during this difficult time and provides them with the space and time needed to move through the loss.
