Abilene Paradox

The Abilene Paradox refers to a phenomenon in which a group of people collectively agrees to a course of action that none of them individually desires. This paradox occurs when group members avoid expressing their true preferences or concerns and conform to what they perceive as the group consensus.

Example

During a team meeting, everyone agrees to take on an additional project despite secretly believing it will overload their workload because they assume that's what the rest of the team wants.
